Flat Rock Brook Nature Association received a $3,000 grant from the Community Chest to help fund the Nature Association's on-site educational programs and its programming that is delivered to local school districts.
The Nature Center typically reaches 5,000 students annually with educational programs on site and in local elementary and middle schools. Initiatives include lessons and field trips for students in the Englewood Public School District and a popular summer camp that provides an excellent curriculum of outdoor experiences for many area school children.
"The Community Chest is a great partner to many area nonprofit organizations in Englewood and beyond, and I'm so pleased that they made an investment in environmental education in Englewood by supporting our initiatives," said Stephen Wiessner, executive director of Flat Rock Brook. "The Community Chest has supported the Nature Center since the early 1990s, and the Chest has been a reliable partner through the years which has greatly helped our nonprofit organization grow."
Flat Rock Brook appreciates the ongoing support of The Community Chest of our education programs.
