Through the generous support of The City of Englewood Health Department, Flat Rock Brook Nature Association offers Tai Chi classes Sundays at 9:00 am to 10:00 followed by a short hike.

Tai Chi and a Hike for Me!
$95.00

Join us on Sunday mornings from 9:00 am to 10:00 am from March 22, 2026 to April 26, 2026.Enhance your mind-body connection while reducing stress with our one-hour gentle, flowing Tai Chi class. Reduce anxiety and improve balance. Directly after class we will also offer a free mindful, eco-therapy hike with an FRB Naturalist. A wonderful way to set the tone for a calm and productive week. $95.00 for the five week session.

If you missed the start of the Tai Chi session or just want to try one class, sign up for a “Drop-in” class for $30.00 per person/per class. Please include date you wish to attend on form.

Fairy Tea Party

Get ready for a magical day at Flat Rock Brook. We will start by playing “Fairy Hike-n-seek” (a short scavenger hunt hike), Create a flower crown, a fairy wand, then make your own special magic potion tea. (tea and cookies will be provided, gluten and peanut free/kosher options will be available)


Break at the Brook

Break at the Brook programs are a perfect way to spend school breaks, having fun in the Flat Rock Brook Forest! These mini-camp experiences are a fun, hands-on program filled with science, nature, crafts, and games for students aged 5-12. $100.00 per day, or $400.00 for five days. Conservation Explorers Club Ages 5 to 10

Conservation Explorers Club programs are designed for after-school learning and Homeschool families. These programs align with NGSS requirements in exciting, hands-on lessons. Utilizing STEM principals your child will use binoculars, microscopes, nature apps, water and soil quality testing kits, and of course - their growing brain to learn about and interact with nature. Fridays, from 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm $13.00 each date/each child or $35.00 for programs, specify dates at time of purchase.

Nature and Me! 18 to 48 months

Family Programs are one hour long unless otherwise noted. These programs are written for the ages listed in the description or may be appropriate for the entire family. Program fees are as marked in the description, prior registration is appreciated. Payment at the door must be exact change cash or check. Siblings over the age of 18 months may not attend but feel free to utilize the other public areas of FRB while you wait.

Nature and Me!

(formerly Forest Fables)

Spring Session I: Thursdays, February 19, 2026 to March 26, 2026

from 10:30 am to 11:30 am

Bring your favorite adult for a fun story, songs, crafts, movement, and a hike in our fabulous forest. Themes for this series are: Chipmunks, Foxes, Wind, Rain and Clouds, Rainbows, Flowers.

For children aged 18 months to four years with an adult. $60.00 per child for 6 classes.

Spring Session II: Thursdays, April 16, 2026 to May 21, 2026

from 10:30 am to 11:30 am (no class 14/2 or 4/9)

Bring your favorite adult for a fun story, songs, crafts, movement, and a hike in our fabulous forest. Themes for this series are: Apples and Pumpkins, Migration, Hibernation, Pinecones, Tree Homes, Winter Solstice.

For children aged 18 months to four years with an adult. $60.00 per child for 6 classes.

Forest Fables
$13.00

Get cozy at Flat Rock Forest for some Forest Fable story time programs. Join our Naturalist as they read a favorite story, share a game, ambassador animal, activity, or craft, and end the program with a short hike for little legs! Programs are approximately 1 hour but we are always free to chat for a while after the program ends! Sunday Programs are 11:00 to 12;00 and Saturday Programs are 1:00 to 2:00. Ages 3 to 6. Fees are $13.00.

  • Mindful Hike:

    Meet in the FRB Exhibit Hall (after Tai Chi Class) for a free, short hike with a Naturalist. We will utilize different trails to each week to connect with nature and relax during a casual walk. All are welcome!

    Everybody’s Earth:

    April 19th from 12:00 to 4:00

    Fun and conservation for the whole family. Hikes on the hour, live animal programs on the half-hour and recycled crafting throughout the day. Bring a t-shirt to learn how to make a reusable bag.

    Healing Hike

    Sunday, April 19th , 10:00 and Thursday, April 23rd, 2:00

    In partnership with the YWCANNJ, and through the generous funding of the Community Chest we are offering Healing Hikes. Using mindfulness techniques FRB Naturalist will lead a one hour hike to our wetlands area. The hike will begin and end on the back porch of the nature center building at 443 Van Nostrand Avenue, Englewood, NJ 07631. All are welcome, must be able to hike on uneven, wet terrain. Dress for the weather.

    Summer Camp Open House:

    Sunday, April 26 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm.

    Come to the Exhibit Hall of the Flat Rock Brook Nature Center to discuss the schedule, activities, staffing, and get to know the camp space. Bring your family and your questions. Activities for the children while you meet with the Camp Director to answer any questions you may have and to sign up for this exciting summer day camp for ages 4 to 14!
