Break At the Brook programs are prefect way to spend school breaks, having fun in the Flat Rock Brook Forest! These mini-camp experiences are a fun, hands-on program filled with science, nature, crafts, and games for students aged 4-9. $100.00 per day, or $400.00 for five days. Family Programs are one hour long unless otherwise noted. These programs are written for the ages listed in the description or may be appropriate for the entire family. Programs are $10.00 per person prior registration is appreciated. Payment at the door must be exact change cash or check. Parents are welcome to drop off or may stay for the program. Siblings over the age of 18 months may not attend but feel free to utilize the other public areas of FRB while you wait.

Wild Weekend: Endangered Species Day - Sunday, May 18, 2025 from 1:00pm to 3:00 pm
Bring the family for a fun filled afternoon learning about local endangered species. Hike into our enchanted forest to look for species of amphibians, turtles, birds, fish and mammals. Get your NJ endangered species guide and learn what you can do to help these amazing creatures. $10 per person or $30.00 per family. Children under the age of 13 must be accompanied by an adult.

STEM: Wonderful Water - Tuesday, May 20, 2025, 4:00 to 5:00 pm
Using STEM principals we will experiment with water. Every wonder what is swimming around in our pond, we will provide microscopes and collection nets filled to the brim with micro and macro invertebrates. This is one of our naturalists’ favorite programs, come see why we love it! For children aged 9-14 or families. $10 per person or $30.00 per family.

Wild Weekend: National Trails Day: Sunday, June 8, 2025 from 1:00 to 3:00 pm. Adults and Families
Come on your own or with the whole family! Celebrate the amazing trails and beautiful scenery of Flat Rock Brook Nature Preserve. Learn the history of FRB as well as some of our Naturalists favorite spots. $10 per person or $30 per family.
Remarkable Rocks - Sunday, March 30, 2025, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm. Ages 7-12 or Families.Learn the remarkable ways rocks are made and view some impressive creations the earth has provided. From geodes to fluorescent rocks, minerals and rocks are fascinating. After we learn a bit at the nature center, we will take a rock hike to learn about our past as a quarry and see some amazing sites such as the sliding rock and our glacier rock. Then we will come back to the center for fun with a “dig it” containing several beautiful rock specimens. $10 per person or $30 per family.

Conserving the Land and Sea
Join Flat Rock Brook in celebrating some of the amazing people and organizations helping to preserve the land and sea of this great nation. During this series we will meet with marine biologists saving local sea turtles at the only rescue center of its kind in New Jersey, The Sea Turtle Recovery Center. Speak with Mr. Matthew B. Dank, Esq. of Matthew Dank Law, as he recounts his efforts to assist creating preserves. Learn about The Conservation of Composting and how best to get started with Mr. Mitchell. Check back frequently for additional lectures each month.
These STEM based, conservation programs are an exciting way to spend your quality family time. Bring the whole crew to a great afternoon of hiking, learning, experiments, and fun.
