Flat Rock Brook Nature Center’s Annual Great Fall Festival - Frequently Asked Questions

Sunday, October 15th 1:00 – 4:00 pm Rain or Shine

Flat Rock Brook is a non-profit nature sanctuary in Englewood, NJ. We are open 365 days a year free of charge and for the enjoyment of all. Occasionally we need to raise money to feed our rescue raptors and other animal ambassadors, provide family events on weekends, maintain our trails and keep the center running. The Great Fall Festival is one of two FUNdraising events we have all year. We hope you will join us and see and support all the great work we are doing!

A few FAQs about the Great Fall Festival. If you still have questions, please call (201) 567-1265 or email questions@flatrockbrook.org

How much is admission?
Admission is $10 for ages 2 and up.  Advance tickets include 5 activity tickets. Admission tickets at the door include 4 activity tickets.

How can I pay?
Advance tickets can be bought online with a credit card. There will be a nominal convenience fee.

Space permitting tickets will be available at the door and can be purchased with a credit card (with a nominal convenience fee) or cash. (small bills / exact change preferred)

What is included?
Your entry fee gets you an admission wrist band and 4 (5 in advance) activity / food tickets to do with what you like. We have several activities and bonuses that don’t require tickets like our raptor presentation, live bat show, K9 Unit demonstration, Fire Truck, autumn Photo Booth, wing span test, guided nature hikes, fill your water bottle truck courtesy of Veolia, and live blue grass music against a backdrop of our October foliage.

After that food and activities will have a sliding scale of 1-3 tickets including canoe rides, child and adult face painting, several nature crafts, make your own s’mores, hot pretzels, popcorn, apple cider, hot beverages, and other snacks. We are trying to create a custom experience of fall and Flat Rock so everyone can decide which activities or munchies to indulge in on their own.

Your admission tickets will entitle you to 2-4 activities depending on what you choose.

Can I purchase additional activity / food tickets?
4 Extra tickets can be purchased for $10 with cash or credit the day of the festival. If you buy your extra tickets in advance you receive 5 tickets.

What kind of food will be there?
You can use your tickets to purchase seasonal snacks and beverages like S’mores, hot pretzels (mustard on the side), popcorn, donuts, hot cocoa and apple cider. There will be gluten free, vegan and kosher options.

What can I bring into the park?
Feel free to bring your own picnic lunch and join us for snacks and dessert! We ask that you clean up after yourself.

What can’t I bring into the park?
Please do not bring dogs, any smoking devices, alcohol, glass or balloons. We share this space with our wildlife!

Where can I park?
Our parking lot will be closed for activities on the day of the festival. You may park on the street surrounding our nature center as long as you respect local signs, fire hydrants and resident driveways.

Can I drop off visitors at the front entrance?
Yes. We will allow drivers to drop off guests at the entrance and make a u-turn to find parking.

Are there restrooms?
Yes, we have restrooms inside the nature center.

Is there a rain date?
No. The festival will be held rain or shine and we will adjust accordingly. Fun fact: In all the years we have held the Great Fall Festival we have only had rain one year…so fingers crossed!
